ENERGY IS EVERYWHERE
DID YOU KNOW?
You cannot destroy or create energy from scratch, energy is transformed into other types of energy until eternity. Ex: you can listen to music because of sound energy, but that energy was electric energy before because it came from the radio.
Energy is all around us!
HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ENERGY?
READING PROGRAM
YES, WE HAVE ONE
- Reading improves confidence in our students.
- Especially reading out loud.
- We have a wide selection of books for all ages.
- They can take the book home for two weeks.
- If they like it, they can check it out again.
- Aaaand, here are some recommendations for the young readers out there…
BOOK CLUB
FOR OLDER KIDS
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. By Rick Riordan.
Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is on the most dangerous quest of his life. With the help of a satyr and a daughter of Athena, Percy must journey across the United States to catch a thief who has stolen the original weapon of mass destruction — Zeus’ master bolt.
FOR YOUNGER KIDS
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. “Once there was a tree…and she loved a little boy.”Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk…and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave.
LIFESTYLES FOR LEMONADE
WHAT IS LIFESTYLES FOR LEMONADE?
- Good question, here´s how it works:
- We want to foment empathy in our students and for them to see the wider world through the eyes of the people that live there.
- Getting to know someone from faraway in just a couple of minutes.
- This activity is great for kids and adults alike.
- Lifestyles will be uploadad on our Youtube channel. (Yes, we do have one)
- So give us a like and a follow when you check them out!
ACTIVITY CORNER
Here are some short activities to help our students practice their English at home.
- The idea is to choose 1 activity from any subject: reading, speaking, crafts, and do it with
your kids. - You can start these activities after the first 2 days of the unit
Activity 1: Ask your kid about this new unit
1. What´s energy?
2. Do you know how it works?
3. Can you give me an easy example?
After you are done play the video attached.
After watching the video, ask them if they can show you an example of energy at home.
Ex: throw a ball
Activity 2: Ask your kid about this new unit
Ask your kid to prepare a quick presentation about his day at Lemonade, ask them to talk about any type of energy they have learned.
Activity 3: Interview
Tell them that they are going to be part of a TV show. How will they introduce themselves and what would he talked about regarding the unit? It can be about energy, about a stem or experiment, etc.
SEE YOU NEXT TIME!
